2. Legend of Kim Quy Cave Ha Long
Not only attracting by natural scenery, Kim Quy Cave is also associated with an interesting legend about the Golden Turtle and King An Duong Vuong. Legend has it that after helping King Le Loi defeat foreign invaders, the Golden Turtle returned the magic sword and swam back to the sea. When arriving at Ha Long Bay, he discovered that this place was disturbed by water monsters, endangering the fishermen. Therefore, the Golden Turtle decided to stay and fight to protect the sea.
The battle was fierce, the sea was turbulent, but finally the Golden Turtle defeated the demons. However, due to exhaustion, he found a quiet place to rest. The turtle swam into a cave on Dam Nam islet, and gradually turned to stone there. Today, when entering Kim Quy Cave Ha Long, visitors can see a large stalactite shaped like a Golden Turtle as if it were sleeping. People believe that this is the incarnation of the sacred god, forever guarding and protecting the bay.
