The Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday 2026 recorded a vibrant tourism scene in Quang Ninh, with approximately 380,000 visitors for sightseeing and relaxation. Notably, during this period, the province welcomed 5 international cruise ships docking, contributing to an increase in international tourist arrivals right from the start of the year.

Information from the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism indicates that during the 5-day Tet holiday (from February 14 to 18), total revenue from tourism activities in the area reached 1,077 billion VND, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. Specifically on the second day of Tet, the number of visitors to Quang Ninh was estimated at 163,000, a 7% increase compared to the same time last year. Of which, international visitors reached about 47,000, while overnight visitors reached 42,000, both recording double-digit growth.

Many familiar destinations continued to attract a large number of tourists during the Tet holiday. Ha Long Bay welcomed about 7,500 visitors; Sun World Ha Long Park recorded about 2,000 visitors; Cua Ong Temple received 5,848 visitors; Cai Bau Pagoda welcomed about 24,000 visitors; Yen Tu welcomed 8,000 visitors; Ba Vang Pagoda welcomed 22,500 visitors; Bach Dang Historical Site welcomed 20,000 visitors; and Tran Dynasty Historical Site welcomed 16,500 visitors.

One of the outstanding highlights of Quang Ninh tourism this Tet holiday is the strong comeback of cruise tourism. On the morning of February 17th (the first day of Tet), two luxury cruise ships carrying nearly 2,400 international tourists docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port. According to the plan, during the entire Tet holiday, the port will welcome a total of 5 international cruise ships.

Further ahead, in 2026, Ha Long International Cruise Port is expected to serve about 88 cruise ship calls, equivalent to nearly 150,000 passengers. The main sources of guests are from markets such as the US, Germany, the UK, Canada, China, and many European countries.

Besides tourism activities, Quang Ninh also focuses on organizing cultural and spiritual events at the beginning of the spring. On February 26th (the 10th day of the Lunar New Year), the opening ceremony of the Yen Tu Spring Festival 2026 will take place at Truc Lam Palace, Yen Tu historical and scenic site, with approximately 5,000 people. The program includes traditional rituals such as palanquin procession, drumming and bell ringing to open the festival, incense offering, and prayers for national peace and prosperity. At the same time, a special art program with approximately 10,000 people will be organized, recreating the depth of history, culture, and thought of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect.

In addition, a series of side activities will also be implemented such as the Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist exhibition; a fair introducing OCOP products associated with a regional food festival; The "Spring Heritage - Tet in Nuong Village" experiential space.

Among them, the Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist Exhibition takes place from February 25th to March 4th at Guong Thien Khai Tam, Yen Tu historical site, introducing documents, images, and artifacts about the formation and development of the Truc Lam Zen sect, and also displaying ancient artifacts from the Tran dynasty.
