According to travel experts, this bustling activity is taking place amidst the country welcoming 3.53 million Chinese tourists in the first 8 months of the year, a 44% increase compared to the same period. The strong recovery in international travel demand, along with a 51% increase in spending, makes Vietnam and Quang Ninh attractive destinations for Chinese tourists at the end of the year.

In Quang Ninh, notable is the restart of the Shenzhen charter flight - Van Don from November 1, 2025, bringing 147 Chinese tourists to Quang Ninh and reopening the first international flight route after the pandemic. In November, an additional 10 round-trip flights were maintained, shortening travel time and attracting high-end Chinese tourist groups. The opening of the flight route coincided with the province's implementation of the stimulus campaign “Quang Ninh - Experience Heritage, Connect the World”, creating a clear effect in attracting international visitors.
Not stopping at Mong Cai, the tourism industry is completing the conditions to welcome guests through the Hoanh Mo - Dong Trung border gate, opening an additional travel route from Guangxi and inland China. Diversifying entry points helps Quang Ninh proactively manage traffic flow and expand markets. Preliminary statistics show that from August until now, an average of about 100 Chinese tourists have passed through the border gate daily; during peak holidays and National Day, the number of visitors increased significantly. Mr. Vi Ngoc Nhat, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Division of Hoanh Mo commune, stated that this is the result of positive coordination between the two sides to promote trade and tourism.
Along with aviation, the Mong Cai border gate continues to be bustling as it continuously welcomes large groups from China. In mid-October, nearly 1,000 MICE tourists entered, stayed for 5 days and 4 nights, and used high-end services, indicating a strong increase in the high-spending segment. The number of visitors passing through the border gate reaches 23,000-24,000 turns per day, with many groups of 100-300 people choosing this route to visit Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu, the Provincial Museum, and enjoy night activities in Bai Chay.
The Beihai - Ha Long cruise route will bring many tourist groups to visit in the coming time.
Besides road and air, the Beihai - Ha Long cruise route has also impressively reconnected. The 2025-2026 cruise season is expected to have 9 arrivals at Hon Gai - Cai Lan port, with the first trip in November bringing over 1,000 Chinese tourists to Ha Long. This is a luxury customer segment, prioritizing yachting, golf, onsen , spa, and night art programs – a group with high spending and strict service quality requirements.
The tourism industry, along with localities and businesses, has developed many new products suitable for the Chinese market, especially the middle to high-end customer segment. Mr. Nguyen Ha Hai, Director of Hon Gai Tourism and Services JSC - Quang Ninh Branch, stated that the company will expand domestic and inter-provincial tours to scenic spots and heritage sites; and implement the Quang Ninh - Beihai route to meet the diverse needs of cruise ship passengers.
In addition, businesses are also adding many familiar tours such as Mong Cai - Ha Long Bay, combined with experiences in Cam Pha, Quang Hanh, Van Don focusing on resort – hot spring – ecological – night activities. Many 5-day 4-night and 6-day 5-night tours featuring golf, luxury yachts, hot spring bathing, and art performances have become popular choices for MICE groups and high-income travelers. The trend of

According to statistics, the last months of 2025 recorded a clear return of Chinese tourists - a group accounting for 35-40% of total international visitors. In the first 9 months of 2025, Quang Ninh welcomed approximately 428,000 overnight stays and 249,000 visitors through Mong Cai. It is projected that by the end of the year, an additional 350,000 - 400,000 visitors will be added, continuing to affirm this as a large and stable international market for the province.
